i did a settings ---> about --> Reset Phone. AND yes, this did improve my battery life/usage

It helped a LOT!!! Im still on the first real discharge from 100%. I think im a pretty heavy user on my phone. A lot of txt, facebook mail youtube ect. all mail accounts set to push, 4G and wifi on all. Glance set to peek. Im very happy with the battery now.

There will be a notifications center like droid with 8.1 where you can enable/disable wifi/data ect ect. About the sms issues. In 8.1 its possible to install a third party sms app like droid. So that might help you when more sms app's will hit the app store. I to just got the 925 switched from...
