Windows Phone revived: Tech Enthusiast "upgrades" Lumia 1020 with full-fledged iOS

Someone has WAY too much time on their hands. "I would still like to see someone be able to get Windows 11 on my HP Elite x3." And then do what? Plug in a dock, power supply, monitor, mouse and keyboard? A laptop is easier to carry around.

NVIDIA RTX 5090 graphics cards are melting power cables (again) — but who's to blame for this recurring GPU nightmare?

600 watts at 12 volts is 50 amps. That's a lot of current. No wonder these dinky cables are melting. Sounds to me like it is time for the Arm revolution to do to GPUs what they already did to CPUs. Sucking huge amounts of power and needing huge cooling fans is just absurd.

Bill Gates says he'd "hide from the press" if former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer traded "the new and hot OS" for Windows 10

Windows 10 is not going to "die" this year. It will continue to work fine for many years AND be supported by 3rd party software for many years. This week, I updated a couple of very old Windows 8.1 tablets to 10. 8.1 was still running fine, but after 10 years I figured it was time to...

Microsoft is once again reportedly involved in talks to buy TikTok, with Oracle leading

Oracle? Microsoft? Neither has any experience in consumer products. Plus, MS already ruined Skype. Plus, MS bought Nokia and then killed it. Samsung would be a much better choice. Or Apple. Or Google.

Microsoft is shutting down its flagship retail storefront in the UK — cuts lease short in the heart of London

"Microsoft does not care about consumers anymore." Anymore? They never did. They tried for a few years but very few consumers were interested. "The Windows ecosystem is absent from the consumer's digital lifestyle." It never was. Windows, Office, Visual Studio, SQL Server and Exchange...

Report: "Jazzed and spooked" Sam Altman and OpenAI will meet with U.S. government officials to discuss "PhD-level" super-agentic AI set to repl...

So called "AI" is barely at 1st grade level now. Has a long way to go to get to PhD level. But hey, absurd statements like this keep the money coming in.

Microsoft blocks critical Secure Boot loophole after over 7 months — fortifying Windows 11 against sophisticated firmware attacks camouflaged as ve...

"While these security features are designed to keep the operating system secure, a vulnerability (CVE-2024-7344) has been accessible to bad actors for over seven months..." Bad actors? Like Keanu Reeves? Or do you mean Hackers/Criminals?

Microsoft's dumbest rebrand in its near 50 year history just got even dumber

We all know that Microsoft is terrible at Marketing. But since their customers are businesses it does not matter much. Consumers like cute, catchy names. Which is one reason why iPods were and iPads are such a success. Ditto for Android. Businesses don't care about such things...

Worst of CES 2025: Disappointments, no-shows, and head-scratchers

"I too want to enjoy gaming on the boardwalk with my handheld so large it seems like it was photoshopped." :D And look at the large fan and cooling slots. So it also doubles as a portable space heater. Intel Inside. Hot air outside.

The best laptops of 2025 will all share this feature that's largely a waste of space

I would say that the Best Laptops of 2025 will NOT have a useless extra key.
