Microsoft has a warranty on this phone still, if a phone must be procured from eBay, Microsoft must procure it. However, a month is a reasonable timeframe, and they could at least offer him a 520 or something to get by on since they are unable to uphold their end of the contract in a timely...

Mine's doing this exact same thing as well. Some days it works just fine. I never know when it's going to work, but Cortana is a sure way to test if I can make a phone call or not. I guess I better take it in to get fixed before I upgrade to W10.

At least I got my settings restored finally after a 3rd Hard Reset. Also got the Windows Phone App for Desktop to start seeing my phone again. I'll try going through the device manager after work. So glad some other people are finding solutions. I was pulling my hair out for a bit there. Thank you.

I can't get it to recognize my phone is plugged in. The windows phone app for win 7 won't recognize it after installing the recovery tool. Have tried all the tips in this thread nothing works. So ******* annoying!!!!!! My computer installs drivers and sees my phone but NOTHING ELSE DOES...

That only works if the other person is comfortable in their own intelligence.

It probably doesn't work because the 8.1 dev preview jacks up the firmware to the wifi radios. I have issues with my 1520 connecting to a ton of visible ssids. When you add In the flat out 25% loss of signal fidelity by removing the said handshake... Anyway I bet when the cyan update rolls out...

I've got big hands even for being 6'6". Between that and some injuries this was the first smartphone I could use. I tried other phablets, and this phone fits my hand perfectly. I never want a different phone. Just wanted to put that out there. For reference when I'm 1 handing my Galaxy Tab 2 8"...

The new update fixed my issues with Xbox music and SD card.

No amount of fiddling with the SD card in out, format power cycling has restored my SD card usage on my Lumia 1520. I had an app installed to SD card. It updated to no longer be allowed to install to SD card, and broke my SD card useage. I tried different cards and nothing.

That was the Exact issue that started this for me. I accidentally set my SD card for app installs, then it installed an update to the SD card for an app that wasn't allowed SD card install. Now my SD card has been denied permission for anything to be put on it.

The SD card is not corrupt. That is only an option if the card is corrupt. Xbox Music simply is not allowing me to download content to an SD card anymore.

Few more reboots with SD card in and out and everything is restored... Didn't have to figure out restoring the backup. Now to diagnose if stuff got installed to SD card that shouldn't. It happened before, but forced me to move the app to the phone.

Phone: Lumia 1520, Current 8.1, Current Music App. So after the last update to WP8.1 preview and the Xbox Music update (the one that made the tile transparent 2.255 or so) I got an error message about the music on my SD card not being readable. Then it started playing, and I thought nothing of...
