Yeah, I'm really questioning the reviews I read of the screen. How did no reviewer notice all the problems with the screen? I guess they just gave it a once-over and went back to their iPhone without noticing all its flaws.

Lighting is everything. Don't use a flash in the dark like that, and certainly don't have it pointing directly where the camera is pointing. Try to find an area that's well and evenly lit by the sun.

It looks to me like the living image won't play unless it's viewed from within Nokia Camera's own picture viewer. Even if I leave the photo in WP's camera roll, it doesn't play when I see it in the gallery.

You might need to go into the Display settings and make sure "battery saver brightness" is on.
