I have a lumia 640 and wanted to try windows 10 on it. I did but it was awful so I figured I'd roll back to 8.1 but once I did that with the recovery tool I have vodafone branding everywhere! Can't I pick my update? I bought the phone from a retail store and it did not have any branding at all

I have a HTC 8X and I'm very happy with it, it gets the job done and I love the high dpi screen but the battery is going really fast so I'm in need of a new one. I still want a windows phone but can't seem to find any with a nice screen (with a pixel density above 342 ppi) and under 300 euros...

As I just said in another comment - I did research, I did ask MS support and at the time they told me yeah, it's gonna be retail. So yes, I did all that, wouldn't have been annoyed if it were my fault

I just asked in MS chat and told them that I've got the retail version ( Win 8.1 Pro Student) and they told me that so nope, it's not just for OEM. Or they lied when they told me that the Pro Student was Retail (I asked back when I bought it).
