Hi since I want a good laptop that will last me about 5 years I am willing to spend up to $3000.

I do use iMessage a lot because the people I text to have iPhones. But you guys make some good points. Losing iMessage would be huge. I didnt think about that. I use use Reminders on my phone which are synced with Reminders on my MBPr and on my iPad. Now grant it I could use some other service...
