Users running on a compressed OS should not install the January build of Windows 10 Technical Preview. Microsoft is working to enable this upgrade path in future releases and we will want your testing and feedback at that time :)

This is a known issue with the January Tech Preview where IE doesn't launch correctly from the start menu. Pinning it to task bar is the workaround. Thanks for trying the Tech Preview and providing feedback! :)
