Sorry for slow comeback. I did the soft reset on one phone - both are Lumia 735 - still Edge will not open. so I did not bother on the other one. It isn´t the end of the World with Edge as I use the Google app as a browser - it appears to load up Edge. So it is the app tile that is the problem.
