Those who would like a solid background color of their choosing and maybe a different accent color (cyan start screen, magenta accent as an example)should try Theme+. It offers more color options than stock, but I'm sure some folks will complain about that as well.

I agree. Even in the settings, it now advises that keeping Wi-Fi on saves cellular data and battery.

My picture quality on 8.1 is still amazingly good. I've not noticed any change after the upgrade.

This sounds like a Yahoo problem. They've been having issues with mail of varying kinds for months, and even went down for a few days a couple of months ago.
