Surface Products, A message for Microsoft investors

You're missing the point of Surface. They're primarily intended to be premium "aspirational" devices to showcase new form factors. The goal is for OEM partners to buy into the ideas and then to mass-produce their own spin on the devices. MS does not want to, and they aren't positioned to...

Shared printer, Error 0x0000709 after windows Updates

Are you using a print server? If yes, that's may be the problem. MS broke network printing in some scenarios with the September CU that included another fix to the print spooler vulnerabilities. More info at the link below. One thing that may be worth trying prior to uninstalling server patches...

    Accessories, Accessories, Accessories

The WC review is spot-on: it fits perfectly, it only adds an extra mm or two to the physical dimensions so it looks and feels like it's part of the device, it adds a little extra grip which is nice, and the packaging may be the coolest part...

Microsoft OneDrive storage - Zip Files

Yes, use File Explorer (right-click files > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder), but they need to be offline, i.e., on the local device. The "Status" icon will be the green circle with a check. The cloud means online only. If you try to zip an online file, you'll be prompted to copy it offline.

Thoughts now that the Duo 2 is official

Agreed, it's the one I'm going with, once I convince myself the eye-watering price is worth it. Interestingly, the 512 GB option is only available in Obsidian, at least right now.

Missing a wifi icon on taskbar

Do you mean your system isn't recognizing Wi-Fi at all, or it does, Wi-Fi works, but you don't see it in Quick Settings and/or in the tray next to the clock?

This PC can't run Windows 11

Just to be clear b/c you're conflating the tiers and generations: the initial Windows 11 reqs are 8th Gen or higher and yours is 7th Gen. The tier doesn't matter; 7th Gen i7 = not supported, 8th Gen i3 = supported. 7th Gen, maybe others, will probably be tested so there's a good chance your PC...

OneDriveNot Showing Pictures Offline After Transfer

Did you set the photos in OneDrive to be available offline? Try this to verify: while online so you can see the photos, open one in the OneDrive app, tap the vertical menu icon (3 dots) in the top right, and check the "Make available offline" setting. If it's off, toggle it on, go offline, and...

    newbie help please folder issues

Haha, I don't think so, but easy for me to say. You can't have a OneDrive folder that's only local if that's what you're asking. I think you'll be fine simply deleting the OneDrive folder you don't want from whichever device and it will sync to the others. If the files only exist in the folder...

    newbie help please folder issues

Correct, that's how OneDrive works, it's the same everywhere. I'm a little confused as to the end result you're looking for. Are you saying you want a OneDrive folder "deleted" from some devices but not others? Or are you concerned about files such as photos on your phone that you copied from a...

    newbie help please folder issues

Yes, they'll be deleted but the folder/files will be available in the OneDrive Recycle Bin for 3+ months. You should see the message below unless you clicked to not show it again from a prior deletion. If the folder is set to "Always keep on this device" on the other devices, then I think the...
