So update for anyone else with this unique problem: I registered my phone with the insider program, and installed the release preview update. Cortana is now functioning properly again.

Calendar is set to run in background, yeah. But when I went to check I found that under apps that can access calendar that Cortana was not listed as an option. Cortana was also not listed under the background apps list, but idk if it would be included with calendar or not.

Since upgrading to the AU on my Lumia 950xl, my Cortana reminders are not functioning properly. I can still set them manually (I haven't tried using voice, as I rarely use that function) but they do not appear as notifications for when they are set. It is only when I go back into the reminders...

Since upgrading to AU on my L950xl I no longer get Cortana notifications for my reminders. I haven't noticed any other notifications from Cortana, but I rely on those less and haven't looked out for them. If anyone has any advice/tips/help for me or the OP, it'd be awesome.

My battery was terrible yesterday, but one of my email accounts wasn't syncing properly (particularly, I wouldn't stop syncing) and it destroyed my battery. Today is much better after I fixed it, but I'm still unsure if its overall better or worse.
