Thanks this actually worked for me. I have a Windows XP PC at work and have never been able to connect my phone to it, It would register but wouldn't install the drivers so i couldn't view any files via explorer. Installing WMP11 seemed to fix this issue and I can now view my 8X as a MTP device.
