yea what they told me was something different. they wouldn't give any support because they have billions of customers and can't manually help everyone of them. maybe u've had a more friendly customer service agent.

this is what i have done already. so maybe we have to wait some days for the activation to take effect and be communicated with the windows activation servers before we can re-install win10. or maybe we could read out the windows 10 key with the special tool and enter this after clean install...

exact same situation as OP. After 8.1 to 10 upgrade i first tried resetting the OS which should only take some 10 minutes according to windows (i even have a SSD) but then after 2 hours resetting it progressed only 2% (i read online ppl waited 48hours to reset). so i canceled and re-installed...
