It's simple reason for failure really. Windows mobile does not have that freedom for OEMs as Android. Why bother with such a locked down OS when they can use Android.

+1, apps are best on iOS. For OP, I wouldn't be waiting for Surface phone. You could be waiting for a long time. Try out other platforms. You can come back when they released it.

Re: Phone Suggestion Lack of apps I can understand. To play most type of videos, you need something like Moliplayer or VLC. Same thing with a computer.

HP is more similar to Dell than IBM. They both have their hands on consumer and enterprise markets.

Microsoft has horribly quality control.

You probably want 8GB of RAM if you use a lot of programs.
