Do you think it is a good idea for MSFT to launch both the surface laptop & surface pro on June 15?

I have to agree with k1s23, launching both devices at the same time has multiple benefits for Microsoft: more consumer choice, better brand recognition and loyalty, and the potential to grow the market for Surface and Windows 10 S considerably by presenting a full range of products. I'd also...

    Surface GIVEAWAY contestants gather here

Just curious: are there any other long time DMs out there who want a Surface Laptop for organizing and running adventures? I know I do. A Surface Pro might actually be better, but I'm used to working with a laptop so I think it would be easier for me.

There most likely won't be a release date this year, perhaps not even next year. The real answer is "when it's ready". Which I fully support because there are few things as confusing to consumers and as frustrating to fans as launching a product before it's ready (Windows 8 anyone?). Also, this...

The thing about the Surface Laptop (and by extension Windows 10 S) though is that it is aimed at expanding the Windows Store considerably by getting OEMs to target the education sector with low cost devices that run Windows 10 S. Through those devices and the incentive developers have to reach...

Citrix Receiver UWP - Good news for Surface Laptop

Agreed, this is very exciting. I use Citrix Receiver every day for work and not having it on Windows 10 was one of the main reasons our company hasn't upgraded yet. Hopefully it won't be too much longer until we make the tansition.

Surface Laptop and Surface Pro. Why are people still confused?

it does come down to form factor, but the problem (in my opinion anyway) is with Microsoft's marketing. They dropped "the tablet that can replace your laptop" line and have adopted "the most versatile laptop" instead. Mind you, the tablet market is shrinking so it makes sense that they would...

I'm really looking forward to the Harmon/Kardon Invoke for exactly this reason. Once developers have more access to Cortana to build skill sets I think we'll see it become a real fixture in some people's lives, especially since Cortana is how they're enabling the cloud clipboard and pick up...

That's the idea. Their target audience with Windows 10 S is the education sector which necessarily demands low cost devices.

What was the alcantara fabric like? I haven't been able to touch one yet and I'm interested to see if it would make heavy laptop is more comfortable. I imagine it would. I'm sure that's at least part of why Microsoft chose to use it of the Surface Laptop.

That depends on what you normally use your desktop for. If you mostly browse the web and stream videos it should make a great replacement, but if you game heavily or video and photo edit a desktop would likely be more reliable.

Does surface laptop focused for student or creator?

I think we can gather from Microsoft's recent focus on "creators" with the recent Creators Update and the upcoming Fall Creators Update that as a company their vision is that everyone is a creator. So I would argue that the answer to your question is both, because Microsoft doesn't necessarily...

Will Windows 10 S help Microsoft beat Chromebooks?

The beauty of Windows 10 S though is that it is not an internet-dependent OS. It's a modified version of full Windows 10 and therefor can fully function without an internet connection. So if schools want to, they can have their IT administrators set up each W10S device with the apps that the...

Usefullness of a touch screen on a standard laptop?

The appeal of the touch screen on the Surface Laptop, for me at least, is that it works with the Surface Pen which is by all rights a quality stylus. OneNote and Edge both have very useful inking features that would be easy to use on a laptop and enable you to more seamlessly do things than you...

Surface Laptop's great battery life confirmed in video

I would be interested to hear what he used the Surface Laptop for in that 13+ hour period. Are we talking heavy web browsing and some video streaming? Or are we mostly talking about office and communication app usage? Either way I'm still suitably impressed, but it would be nice to have a...

How many think MS Edge as a serious competitor to Google Chrome and Firefox

Currently Edge is fully usable and has the essential extensions that I use. The interface is minimalist which I appreciate, and the feature set isn't all that different from Chrome or Firefox. If Microsoft would just unbundle it from Windows so that we can get regular feature updates that would...
