I'm standing my ground, and sticking with Windows Mobile.

The battery life on the 950, oh dear, what have I done.

    Confused - Mix feelings.

Has the new battery made a difference? I've been running a 950 for 18 days now, battery life is appalling, despite all of the other positives I found with the unit moving up from a 640. Put the first week down to new over use, installing apps etc but after things have settled down lucky to get...

I'm standing my ground, and sticking with Windows Mobile.

After a week of debating what to do I have today purchased a Lumia 950 with the sole aim of keeping me going for 12 months to the next decision point. I looked at Andriod and towards the Google Pixel but my heart was not in it. Windows 10 Mobile user for 2018 at least.

Windows 10 Mobile build 15254.1 Discussion (Fast Ring)

...but unable to move to 1709 FCU. I know it is not a supported device but should I be able to move to 1709? The 640 is not supported either but Windows Insider moved it to 1709 some time ago.

Barclays Mobile App may be broken by Creative Update

Pingit is on it's way out, as it is a Barclays app I wonder how long before the banking app itself gets the same treatment? "From 23 January 2018, Pingit will no longer be supported on Windows phones. We're sorry, we had to make this difficult decision because we can no longer provide the best...

Windows 10 Mobile build 15252 Discussion (Fast Ring)

That's a good tip thanks, I've only ever considered an update over WiFi, makes sense that when on Data Connection you get a size warning.

Windows 10 Mobile build 15252 Discussion (Fast Ring)

I mentioned that I dropped out of bothering with the fast ring updates at 15237 after deciding that uninstalling apps and clearing message history was not worth the effort when updates were needing 1.2Gb of space to install. I was surprised to see that 15252 has auto-installed over the...

For Windows 10 Mobile users (What are you doing with your current device?)

Lumia 640 as the out-and-about mobile and Lumia 640XL in the house. My short-term plan is to get a used 950 to see me through the next 12 months which will either be the death or rebirth of WM.

Windows 10 Mobile build 15237 Discussion (Fast Ring)

24 hours in and sure is a smooth experience on 15237, only issue is battery performance (Lumia 640). Today the phone has been on the desk and only browsed the news app at lunchtime and a full drain in 8 hours (that's 7hr50min on standby). One thing I noticed was that when force closing apps...

Windows 10 Mobile build 15237 Discussion (Fast Ring)

Eventually got to 15237 after 2 hours, things appear to be normal on the email live tiles for me. 2 new email notifications showing, open mail app, close email app, notification number has gone as normal.

    Problems saving photos on 640

I did notice that the L640 ran a lot smoother after the hard reset, the first one I had done in 2 years, so despite the effort of re-registering some apps it was worth it overall.

    Problems saving photos on 640

Only a hard reset fixed that issue for me back in June 2017. Unfortunately the batch of pictures that I had taken over the weekend prior to the "saving" problem were very low quality thumbs. I would recommend the hard reset, if only to regain quality of future pictures.

Windows 10 Mobile build 15237 Discussion (Fast Ring)

The size of the download (currently updating to 15237) is starting to become a real pain, and I envisage that this will be the last time I will bother. The normal route for me is unistalling FB/Messenger/Instagram downloading the update and reinstalling the apps. For 15235 (slow) and 15237...
