Poll: should Microsoft add UI options for continuum?

The major failure of Windows 8 was less whatever it was, and more that massive and unreasonable hate campaign, (Seriously, the most vocal haters never used it and plenty of people never tried it because of the hatred. Just a few days ago I met someone who still thought that Windows 8 is...

Poll: should Microsoft add UI options for continuum?

Didn't you intend to include the "allow task bar to be closed with a swipe" toggle? ...Then again, why the hell would that even be a toggle, considering that the act of swiping from the bottom is something has to be done willingly?

Poll: should Microsoft add UI options for continuum?

The existence of a "desktop" mode is not entirely wrong. But it should only do a single thing: Make WinRT apps windowed. Meanwhile, tablet mode should make Win32 apps fullscreen. Both would have buttons to move singular apps into the other use case. Let's ignore the start screen/menu thing...

    Multi-tasking touch gesture

I hope that everyone votes on this aspect. Would be sad if this point was missed. Especially because the newest build otherwise feels very polished.

Microsoft Haters will be bad mouthing this like the Kinect...

But the original Kinect was an atrocious failure. It just so happened to be very useful outside of gaming. You can see plenty of reviews of completely frustrated players of Steel Battalion's sequel to see what I mean. The current hate is something different, though. It's now undeniably...

    Hololense-like devices in fiction

So, people are wondering how Hololense can be used. What about if we list a few pieces of fiction that have similar devices? In movies, the following come to my mind: Iron Man, where Tony Stark interacts with holograms to design his suit. The first version of Hololense will likely not be...

    Multi-tasking touch gesture

They could easily solve this: Slide in to get the old behavior. Slide in and out to get the task view. That's basically how it worked in 8, anyway. You'd retain both systems at full functionality.

German Lumia 620, Vodafone, doesn't find updates

If anyone wonders, I finally got the update today. Almost exactly one month after it was listed available on the website.

    Multi-tasking touch gesture

So, anyone else disturbed by the changed gesture? The presentation showed that swiping in from the left edge causes Task View to open. You then have to tap the tile of the app that you want to display on the screen. That's a movement halfway across the screen and the need to tap a specific area...

German Lumia 620, Vodafone, doesn't find updates

Thank you for this polite way of telling me to get ****ed. As you have noticed yourself already, you are telling me to do something impossible. Anyway, it's been three weeks and I still don't have the update.

German Lumia 620, Vodafone, doesn't find updates

Thankfully not for this update. But I've already had updates where knowing the exact date would have saved me from tremendous grief. Denim is a rather minor update, but something like 8.1 was total havoc. Hell, without WP 8.1 I wouldn't even be able to connect to my unversity's wifi. So yes...

Gotta love Microsoft's idea of providing information to customers.

German Lumia 620, Vodafone, doesn't find updates

I have the Vodafone version of Lumia 620. According to the update website, Denim became available for it yesterday. However, my phone claims that there is no new update available. I already tried restarting my phone but it didn't help. Is this a known issue that can be solved somehow?

    Still worth the purchase?

Had one of the original RTs (now a relative is using it). I'd definitely suggest NOT buying one. If you consider it at all, you should get a 2. The RT was okay and quite snappy on Windows 8, but 8.1 broke its performance. It's a hit-or-miss afair, which sometimes does what it's supposed to do...
