Just that: Why do you have to sign in to see who else is signed in on that computer? Wouldn't it make sense to show that on the main screen? Is there a tweak to fix that?

I would download them. There are lots of bugs out there and I've run into some of them. Don't take a chance on one of the bugs messing things up.

I've had this problem too but in my case it seemed related to setting up my home network. It seems that when I try to network by sharing files with another computer it makes the start button and other new apps fail. Legacy programs work ok.
