Yep, usable space being less than what’s on the box is unfortunately how it has been for a very long time.

The laptop came into existence (seemingly) in 2017 and shipped with Windows 10. A proper driver likely does not exist. Microsoft’s effort to improve touchpads, the Precision Touchpad spec also didn’t exist until Windows 8 or 8.1 I believe which doesn’t help.

It could be age, the batteries not being able to output the power the phone demands with heavier use, or Windows 10 Mobile being quirky. But that's definitely not normal. You could try resetting one to see if it makes a difference.

Is it still visible under Device Manager after deleting it? Does the touchpad work with the mouse connected? If it were me, I'd try to see if booting into Windows or Ubuntu installation media (without installing anything) to see if the trackpad works there because if it doesn't then it might...

As long as it is good quality (should be) and the voltages line up then you'll be OK. That being said, I will bet you will be OK. I still use an old HP Touchpad charger for some USB power uses.

If it helps, computers do have overheat protection but either way that's not ideal for power consumption. Off the top of my head, perhaps it was a Group Policy edit or a registry edit to achieve that? (but maybe not since you have Windows 10 Home)

Possibly, but going at it without Google Play Services is a serious hurdle and Google knows it, so I imagine they are indifferent. I don't imagine 11 moving the needle too much since Teams doesn't compete with Facebook and there isn't much overlap between Windows 11 devices and Playstations.

They pulled the PC Health Checker, we'll probably have to wait until release is imminent to really know what is supported, what is "unsupported" and what it outright unsupported.

I'm not familiar with the system so I'm just grasping at straws, but are they connected to different Wi-Fi networks by any chance? A lot of routers these days have both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz bands which may or may not be separate.

PC and OneDrive sync is two-ways. Conflicts I believe result in duplicated files. I am not sure how to share folders between OneDrive however.

You can look at this a number of ways. ARM has always(?) been more power-efficient than x86 in many use cases so it stands to reason that you can eek out more power-per-watt - like the comparison that Apple made when they switched from PPC to x86. People can definitely compare different chips...

1. Windows 7 is defunct! You should upgrade to 10 if you can. 2. It's possible that some RAM is being set aside for your video card but don't quote me on that. 3. The RAM might be installed on the wrong slot. I assume it's a desktop?
