I don't think there is a way to disable the notification. I'm in the same boat and agree that it is annoying. I simply rather it not tell me what the status is because I already know if I turned it off or on.
I was also hesitant to get the 8GB model, but for $1.05 (plus AT&Ts $36 upgrade fee....such a rip off), it was difficult to pass up. However, I did have the hope there would be a microSD card, but that hope is gloom.

I noticed this when I first got it as well. I started doing it last night, but I ended up order a plastic removal tool since that seems like the proper tool for the job. I will definitely be taking it apart in hope I will find a microSD slot hiding, unless someone beats me to it
What is that based on? I'm not sure what second generation means for HTC since they pump out so many phones. Until someone cracks this open, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion yet. In my eyes, it is much easier to make a phone with a microSD slot (UHS-1 speed is 104mb/s) and have a 8GB and 16GB...
How else are you suppose to know it is charging? All of the phones I've used in the past have had some type of charging indicator. If it bothers you at night, you could always put something over top of it.
