The problem is fixed by removing the SD-card. I have not tried putting the card back in yet, but it should work fine after it is cleared of data, and the file format is changed.

You should get the phone and charger replaced. The battery is very likely damaged, as the phone is supposed to get fully charged in under 2 hours. My 950 (not xl) only takes an hour to get from 0-100%.

Yeah, there is no way the phone only drains 1 % an hour, while in use... You'd get a hundred hours out of the phone, if that was true, and that's simply not possible with todays battery technology. Not even while the phone is idle.
