Is this potentially new device (smart-watch) from Asus the start of the Microsoft Health revolution (tongue in cheek comment :winktongue:) if the reports are true it appears it may be powered by the band technology.

Looks like Asus has a Microsoft Health-powered smartwatch up its sleeve | Wearables News | TechRadar

This would fit into what appears to be Microsoft's business model for Microsoft Health and cloud services, leaving others to create the wearable devices using the Band type sensors which then uses the MSFT cloud services.
Could this mean that there may not even be a version 2 Band if more companies licences the technology from Microsoft?

The Band may have been intended as a reference device like the Surface line at one point.

That is, offer OEMs a design to hold as the standard that they should either match or improve upon.

EDIT: They may also be counting on the fact that it supports multiple platforms out of the box.

Yes, no doubt about that, it is just an annoyance that we are still waiting for the fully fledged Health product and integration.
