Calorie counter seems low

I wore my Microsoft band today and went running for 30 minutes. According to a calories burned website I should have burned around 250/270 calories. When I left to go running it said 930 calories burned and when I returned it said 1020 calories. I am being thick or should it not have said 250 kcals higher than when I left.. or does it not work like that..

Thanks :)

Did you put the Band into exercise mode? Calories is measured from heart rate. But in normal mode the hart rate is only sampled once every 10 minutes. So with only 2-3 samples from your run, it may undercount it. But if you put the band into an exercise/run/bike mode, then it will sample the heart rate continuously. But even then, some of us get inaccurate heart rates.
