Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Does anyone have a Lumia 535 with such defects, screen not responding, when typing automatically typing itself. Automatically turning off at times? Seriously worthless company they destroyed lumia quality, gorilla glass feels like plastic only camera is good everything else sucks! Flop phone
-
re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
I think that 535 doesn't have gorilla glass but.. All those problems you're having maybe are because of a faulty unit to should take it to a service center, or your carrier's shop and ask for a replacement

Yes it does have Gorilla Glass 3, I have GG3 too, I don't know about plastic feel, but you won't get better than that.. Of course it's not a normal glass anyways.. I think it has a layer of something on it so it feels smoother and easier to slide.
It seems that your device possesses some problems, lagging like this isn't usual for WP..
-
re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
It definitely should work. If it shuts off automatically while in use, or if the screen doesn't allow normal typing, then you've got a defective device. Return it.
On the other hand, it is almost the lowest end Lumia you can buy, so don't expect it to come with highest quality components. All affordable devices must make some sacrifices.
-
re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Plastic feel to the glass? Did you, by any chance, leave the thin plastic sheet on there that is just for shipping?
Random shutdowns MAY be related to the battery not contacting the pins correctly. Remove the back cover. Get some paper and make a small pad (about 3 thicknesses on the paper) and tape the pad inside the cover so it pushes down on the battery. Put the cover back on.
Hope some of that helps. You may also want to look at your screen sensitivity settings...

Manufacturing methods aren't perfect.
There were defective Lumia's for as long as they existed. Same with iPhones, same with Galaxies, etc.
Defective phones aren't suddenly popping up with Microsoft at the helm, you just happened to get a bad unit. Better luck next time.
Get it repaired or replaced under warranty. Contact Microsoft support, this should be a clear-cut replacement job.
Also, I recommend looking at the 635/630 if quality is more important than the display and RAM, because I suspect some build quality was cut to make room in the budget for better specs. Everything has a price. (Not that the phone is shoddily built AFAIK)

re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
I had similar issues with L720 and it's a problem with the device. Get it replaced. Internal touch sensor is of fault and don't use different wall chargers. Use the one that came with box.
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
You got a bad device, period. I own a 820, 925, 635 and a 520 and have never had a problem with any of them. Take it back and I am sure it will be replaced. If the next one is like that then you can reallly start to complain. Quality control is not perfect in anything you buy. Its the nature of the beast. I would love to know how many phones (from any OEM) that are bad. I bet the percentage is very small. Unfortunatly you got a bad one. Doesn't make them all bad or the OEM bad.

"Replace It"!

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
"Flop phone" ?
It's not a Lady GaGa Christmas album. It's clear you have a faulty unit. Just get it replaced and relax.
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
And you did return or replace that device, did you?
With so many troubles, I cannot find an excuse to not do so.
Then, how about the new one? Still have trouble?
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Why go to the bother of returning the phone for a replacement when you can post a message on the forums so that everyone else can tell you the sensible thing to do?
:P

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Under setting go to ease of access and turn OFF the magnifier this will hopefully resolve your screen related issue(I mean screen not responding...). Let us know after trying this.Have you tried hard reset?? Good Luck.
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
i had reviews from a few friends that 535 is an excellent piece. i am considering it as a gift to a relative in last week of December.
it looks like u have stumbled upon a defective piece. otherwise, people are telling me how good that phone is.

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
It's a great specced phone but interestingly, Paul Thurrott at Winsupersite criticises the build quality. He says it doesn't feel great and it won't be replacing his 635 as a phone he uses regularly.

This, people are saying about how this wrecks the 635 and stuff, but there's a price to everything, even if its not apparent on paper.

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
I have a Lumia 635 and it does have a plastic feel to the screen. I bought a tempered glass protector and that "premium" feel to it is back again. Considering a decent screen protector can be picked up for under $10 shipped on Amazon, I thought this was a good compromise without spending a ton of money.

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Bought one of the 39$ 635's (even though I don't need it) and I have to agree with everyone. It is one hell of a phone for the price. I think if Microsoft adds a flash, ups the ram to 1gb, call it a 640 and they would be able to compete with the Moto G (which i also own) a lot better. The screen is outstanding and almost as good as my daily 820. I am impressed.Have not seen a 535 or a 530 to compair.

Actually just make the 535 with 4G/LTE, put a clearback display on it and call it a 640 and boom!

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Defo a bum unit, this is an excellent phone all round for the money paid.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find something of a similar spec for the same money, SIM free.
At the end of the day people will still whinge their t1ts off about this phone because some people are just not happy unless they're being negative!
You can please some of the people, some of the time, but not all of the people, all of the time!
Door is now open, whingebags, roll up, roll up!!

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
I'll swap ya for me spare 520 I have lying around, it's a great phone, it's me phone I take on the slopes snowboarding and stuff coz don't care if I trash it. Can't fault it for the price and that 535 is supposedly better and cheaper (compared to the 520 when it was new)
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Kept my 520 too for similar reasons, albeit soccer in my case ( would've said football but our overseas cousins use that word for their body armoured version of rugby!) and nights on the town!

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
These people who have responded above clearly haven't owned a Lumia 535 before. If you have purchased one, you would know that it is a widespread issue.
I bought one for my little sister as a Christmas present only to discover that the touchscreen has some serious issue. Whenever your finger touches the lower portion of the screen during scrolling or using the handwriting recognition keyboard, it results in a mistap or it fails to recognize your handwriting.
Before anyone claim that I got a faulty unit, hear this: I returned it to the store the next day, and the staff said that this is a known issue (he has sold 3 units before me), and after trying 3 other brand new Lumia 535, he gave up and said he'll give me a full refund. After that, I contacted Microsoft Malaysia's Facebook page and I was told that a software update is coming to fix the issue.

Own one and know about the issue. Also know a firmware update in pipeline.

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Bought 535 last friday, returned to the store today and substituted it with a Lumia 625. My god, what a difference! 535 screen seems to be for real a piece of plastic, the touch is full of lags and imprecision. In every sms or whatsapp I can report at least 3 or 4 retyping, due to errors. Games are not so bad, depending on which one you are playing. Bow shooting games are impossible. The sim code pin frequently need a retyping too.
Imho, Microsoft first phone is a bad step.

Unlucky! I have nothing but praise for my unit, from battery strength to wifi range.
I updated my phone to latest version of DP and now have no issues with screen at all.

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
I am also happy with my phone. I think I just got unlucky with my battery.

Ok. But, when you update your phone to the DP, don't you avoid your warranty? If I remember, in Italy, Nokia center refuse DP phones (if they realized it  ). And last, but not least, the DP is a alfa or beta version of the software. If there is a problem or a bug with it, you can't turn back and you have to wait for the final release. Am I right?
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Thought warranty was for the hardware not the software?
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Hmmm.. My friend bought a Lumia 535, but he did not faced any issue like this. And the touch screen is not plasticky, its same as my 630.
-

Depend on your country policy, I believe. By the way, the procedure to install a DP is not a conventionally way to upgrade the system. A brand new product have to be fully functional before launch it on market.
EDITED: Red the italian policy. Ok, now I know that you don't avoid warranty after a DP install. But I don't want to risk a bugged system installation (some bug could be present in DP). This because after a DP install, "You CANNOT REVERT to a prior OS version once you have taken an update via this program" (Microsoft App MArket).
I can't wait for an upgrade from Microsoft. I want my phone working well after first start.

You have to use one, for a couple of days. And use an "old" Nokia Lumia at the same time. You can see the difference in every moment.

We're kind of getting off topic here, but this is not entirely correct. If you have a 535 you can always use Nokia's Tools to flash your phone back to a previous ROM version (search the site for more info). That may take half an hour to setup and complete, but it is possible.
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
I had got similar problems too.... But after a week got that replaced with 730.

Ok. Don't know about that possibility. The phrase: "You CANNOT REVERT to a prior OS version once you have taken an update via this program" is copied/pasted from the app Preview for Developer in Microsoft Market.
Preview for Developers | Store di app e giochi per Windows Phone (Italia)

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Flashing via Nokia recovery tool will revert back to stock ROM however updating via any DP update will not allow you to undo that update by ,means of an uninstall.
Have done the above numerous times with my 520 and recently a couple of 530's and units had been updated via DP.
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
What I don't understand is the apparent lack of urgency in them for fixing the problem and release an update... Ok we already know that they are working on it, but as confirmed, the latest DP doesn't have the touch problems so they already have the fix in their hands.
In the mean time the sales of 535 decline and I can imagine that the percentage of returns caused by this problem is quite high. Being the first Microsoft branded WP device, I find difficult to comprehend this lack of action. With the Christmas holidays starting, there is a strong possibility that the update will only appear after new year's eve. In the mean time people are buying these devices and complaining/returning, giving a bad name to Microsoft and WP. With their quota of only 3% VS 12% of iOS and 83% of Android, how can they let this happen? They need to show and convince they are better than the competitors...
-
You can fix the problem (touch screen) by using the Lumia Recovery Tool, the fixed firmware is already available through the tool.

Thanks for the advice! I can report that it's fixed! Nonetheless I think that there is still room for improvement, mainly in the precision. You can clearly feel it stuttering a bit while dragging the finger in a continuous motion(easily seen while scrolling on the app panel), and as soon you remove the finger it returns to a buttery smooth motion.

Yes... I got this issue too.. Now it responsive.. Way to responsive, it now sometimes too fast to process a command.. And it make an unwanted command to be processed.. I think there is no way to fix it.. MS are lost their mind when making L535.. I just think why they let this huge problems come to us.. :(

Now we can do only one thing, is to talk to customer care helplines so we either get a replacement or a refund, because even I feel the same, MS has destroyed the lumia quality from the phones originally made by the name Nokia, if not a proper fixed should be launched, I don't know what hardware or software they are using but its pathetic haha, for Microsoft which is billion dollar company to have such flaws

I have 2 friends that recently bought the 535 last week (first time WP users) Warned them about the touch issues before purchasing and suggested they wait if there's a fix or a new revision that will come. They still pushed thru even with the warning and they are both loving the phones.
One even plays aphalt 8 airborne with silly car sounds from his mouth. And he's age 30
Checked their phones myself and the touch issue is there. But not to a point of being unusable. And heck they even don't notice it without me bringing it up

I would like to say the touch problems may vary from lumia 535 because there were 2 types reported one was very rough and the other over sensitive which apparently hasn't worked for all devices and complains remain of over sensitive screen same in my case even the service centre claimed hardware replacement but same problem remains, and a word from head office is pending if I might get a refund, peace

Well I also used lumia 800 and 820, so please don't compare those phones of Nokia to this laggy phone Microsoft has created, just go ahead and look at the threads and the reports of the problems and bugs in the forums..
The first impression of Microsoft is pretty bad, and the end to a wonderful lumia series which were so perfect..

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Is using screen guard can help the touch more accurate? Coz the screen i think absorb wet on hand.. It's fingerprints magnet.. And when the clean screen get the first touch it's getting inaccurate.., I'm getting very mad on this.. It's annoying.. Why MS didn't let us just get a fine touch sensor & screen.. It's vital.. All specs means nothing without touch.. Just like room full of gold without door you cant enjoying its.. :(

Though there is a firmware coming for this issue, but remember the touch will still be the same. I had this phone for a week and I felt that the screen was made of plastic.so after a week a replaced this phone with NL 730

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Quite query are they just simply post an update without any testing ? Very disappointed for the product !
-
Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Well the screen at times has trouble registering what to type,, especially the left side overreacts and types by itself, and it takes approx 3 minutes to get back to normal, and as matter of fact the update has new features but the bug still needs to be resolved
-

Is there any 535 owner out there, who doesnt have the multitouch bug? If yes, can anybody of them make a short video with the multitouch test app?
THX
This is one of two reasons (the other is the build quality) why i have send it back to amazon...

Re: Purchased Lumia 535 absolutely regretting it!!
Yes, I can confirm having the same issues with my 535. It was typing letters double and all kinds of weird screen response. What I did was:
1. Do all the OS updates
2. Take out the battery for 5mins.
3. Do a factory reset
After that the device was working normally and I did not have the screen issues anymore. It is actually a pretty nice device but it does seem that MS has issues with this particular model. Good luck sorting it out.

the question is, does these steps helped to remove the multitouch bug? We dont talk anymore about the screen responsiveness, this issue is fixed perfectly, but the multitouch bug was still there (like in the youtube vids). I have made a full wipe after the update, and the multitouch bug was still alive.

Same here... Multitouch bug needs another software update I feel, to completely resolve the issue...
