I can't connect my lumia 535 to windows 8.1 pc

It can't install the software, when i tried to "update driver software" it said:

Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install "MTP USB Device"

Please help me, i can't transfer my data, i need solution for this problem.

first, double check this setting.
settings>>USB>>ask me before using USB data connection. make sure that is checked
next. try deleting the driver(s). delete all drivers that relate to your phone.
disconnect phone from computer. then, power down phone.
after phone has powered down all the way, attach USB cable to computer -use the one that came with the phone- then to phone.
the phone should power up on its own and be discovered by you computer and it should then install the drivers.

I tried but it still can't worked, it said the same thing

delete the driver for "MTP USB Device"
delete all drivers related to phone in the
portable devices folder in device manager.
delete all drivers related to phone in USB devices.
unplug phone from computer.
power phone down.
plug phone in to usb cable.
scan for hardware changes in device manager.

yes these are roughly the same instructions given in my previous post.
with the addition of portable devices.

also make sure you have ask me about usb data checked in the settings under usb.
