Whatsapp causes battery drain on L535

Hi community!
Whatsapp causes battery drain (only background activities / about 20% a hour in idle) on my "new" lumia 535.
OS and Whatsapp are up to date.
What can i do?

Re: Whatsapp causes battery drain on L535

Could you verify this by checking the battery usage statistics in your phone settings > battery saver?

Also, are you frequently receiving push notifications from WhatsApp?

In my case, my WhatsApp battery usage in the background is 0%, because I don't talk to anyone there. Therefore, I suspect it has something to do with how frequently you interact with the app (related to the push notifications you receive while the app is running in the background).

You could prevent the app from running in the background, but that would also prevent you from receiving any messages when the app isn't active.

You may create a Windows Central account to respond in this thread.
