Ooh that's a hard one. If you like big, the XL is the way to go, and it has a better front camera over the 830. If you don't like big and you'll prefer a camera button, the 830 is the way to go.

On that logic, the 640 xl is a year old. The 830 was just overpriced at launch, but it is a nice phone.

That being said, if you already have the 830, there's no reason to switch.

Lower resolution but superior rear camera and camera button
Full-featured Glance
16 GB internal memory
Qi wireless charging

Both will perform largely the same, since they are powered by mostly the same internals. (1.2 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 400 + 1 GB RAM)
Both have SD card slots

I would get the 830 because it's a better overall combination for me, having Qi and OIS as well as being smaller.

I had both for a year each. I really like both of them and it would be hard for me to decide which one to pick if somebody handed them to me and said "pick one". I do like the larger screen of the 640XL. I'd say neither is better - they are different and it boils down to which one you like more.
