I had a friend who owned a Windows Mobile phone back in the day.
He wanted to upgrade it but the store (I think it was Best Buy) refused to replace it/upgrade it (I think it was for free or reduced price - one of those) unless it was broken.

So he took it home and it coincidentally met with a terrible fate shortly.
