Why am I unable to use music as ringtones,calendar alerts or message alerts - Microsoft Lumia 640?

Unable to use music as ringtones,calendar alerts or message alerts - Microsoft Lumia 640

Just got a Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE, transferred all my photos, data, music etc then went to change my settings so I could have different music for my alerts, messages etc but the phone won't allow it.

Downloaded RingtoneMaker, & it says "for legal reasons you're only allowed to make ringtones from DRM-free music.

WTF?

Am I right in thinking this is really rubbish & I might as well go back to my trusty Nokia C7 that could do all of the above!

Why not just get a DRM free version of the songs you want to use instead?

Hi, thanks for your reply colinkiam, not sure if this is possible but I can try. Do I just look up DRM free music? What is DRM free anyway?
