Why is my phone lagging on the keyboard?

Hi,

I'm using a Microsoft Lumia 640, had it since 2015. Its on Windows 8.1, Lumia Denim.

The issue is that the keyboard "skips" around when typing. Not sure how to explain it but imagine using a mouse on a plain surface, the cursor jumps around. So thats the same problem with my keyboard. For example, I type a letter j and it selects y i l n and spacebar. It doesnt matter how slow and carefully I type.

I have looked up solutions on the internet and most suggest a factory reset, which I did a few months ago. The problem just returned.

The problem isnt with a specific app as it occurs just as much on Whatsapp as on 6tag.

Any suggestions on what to do?

I get this on my 735 Windows10 Slow ring, I think it's a ghost effect (like 1520, but better here)

Hey again, I've tried that. Works intermittently. Not sure if its a graphics driver issue or my phone motherboard is getting corrupted. And the 12 month warranty has long since expired.

Happens on my 640, it's been happening in varying degrees since 10 Mobile launched.

I'm considering it a shortcoming of Windows 10 Mobile itself and the cure is either a different Windows Phone (might not work) or a different OS. Probably the latter to keep problems to a minimum.
