That's not what the article says. It says the phone can't be activated on Verizon but should work if you move a sim from another Verizon phone to it. And you can't even do that until some future software update. So it sounds like HTC is just hoping people can use it on Verizon. There is no indication that Verizon is a part of that.

    her's what it says:

"The One A9 variant in question will work with Verizon LTE after a software update, available shortly after launch. It will also work with AT&T and T-Mobile LTE and 3G networks. A separate version is designed for Sprint LTE and CDMA networks. HTC says previously-activated SIM cards (i.e., those pulled from a working Verizon phone) will have full support to voice, SMS/MMS, and data services via LTE on the One A9."

1st line of the quote is most important.... AFTER a software update. It also requires already having an activated Verizon sim.

Has Verizon rolled out VoLTE to all of their customers/towers? Seems like without it, this won't work.

Wait wait wait, so did Verizon CONFIRM that they will add the serial numbers of these phones to their database to really work on their network? Or is this just more marketing BS?

Verizon doesn't need to add the phones to their database. They'll work anyway (assuming they're compatible), as long as you have an already active SIM card. That's how lots of users used the Nexus 6 and factory unlocked iPhones on Verizon before Verizon officially supported them.

That might not be any loss. HTC made the first LTE smartphone for Verizon, the HTC Thunderbolt. It wasn't exactly a stellar device.

Maybe HTC will stumble with the A9 too.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like something MSFT would really want to get in the middle of.
