So someone took the whole thing apart and here's an interesting blurb about how the liquid cooling works. It's slightly different than standard heat pipes in Sony phones.

"But what?s more intriguing about this liquid cooling system is how it actually works. Although called ?liquid,? it uses the classic system with heat pipes that contain working fluid (only a few drops though, so it?s not full of liquid) used to absorb the heat from the device and the CPU in particular.

Once the heat is absorbed, the liquid is transformed into gas diffused through the vents, and then it turns back into liquid by losing thermal energy and condensing. The liquid is then brought back in the original place through capillary action, which is the ability of a liquid to flow in narrow places without the assistance of external forces such as gravity.
