can i use a 1 tb external hard via display dock with lumia 950 xl?

Yes you can. You don't even really need the dock as it is just an expensive USB hub, which would do the same thing.

Does Visual Voicemail work now? I know it didn't when these phones were initially released due to some programming issue related to the dual SIMs. I know there are 3rd party voice mail service but am hoping to avoid them if I can with a 950XL running the latest WM10. And if it matters, I am most interested if it works with just one SIM in the phone.

It's working on my 950/XL DS's with T-mobile in U.S ... using only one SIM.
