    Hi,

I've been having a look on here:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_10_Mobile

I have the Redstone 10.0.14283.1000 build. I, however, like the look of the 10.0.10586.164 as it looks like the notifications may be fixed on this build. How do i get it - is it something that will just come out? I've tried changing to the insider ring - fast but nothing.

    Thanks!

If you are already on redstone, you must revert to fabric build via WDRT, then re enter in Insider via Release or Slow ring.
You can't directly downgrade a build

The build you are currently on, 10.0.14283.1000 is an experimental pre-release build that you installed by opting into the insider fast ring. As I'm sure you're aware, fast ring builds are prone to be buggy and are released so they can be tested by insiders in the fast ring.

The build you are asking about, 10.0.10586.164, is the current release build. Being a release build, it should be the most stable.

The release build will not just 'come out' to your phone since you told your phone to ignore the release builds and to instead, install experimental pre-release builds. you did this when you opted into the insider program and entered the fast ring.

If you want to roll your phone back to the current release branch (10.0.10586.xxx) you will need to use the "Windows Device Recovery Tool". If you do an internet search you will find it. Using the WDRT will erase everything from your phone and re-install a release version of the OS. I did this last week. It installed 10.0.10586.29 on my 950xl. After the OS was installed it took nearly an hour more to let all the app and system updates finish loading. When that was done I was able to search for phone updates and .164 was available for download. The entire process will take a few hours so be patient.

Thanks I was just trying to work out which build was further forward in my head as, I'd assumed, that Redstone would take the fixes from the other builds but it doesn't look like it.

M4cc45, for what it is worth, I just went from Build: 10.0.14267.1004 (nothing but trouble for ME); to Build: 10.0.14283.1000, last night - and boy am I glad I did, everything is work great so for. I have not tried music over Bluetooth yet, so I don't know if that is fixed yet or not, but everything else seems to be humming along...Best Build for me thus far, by far.

    Signed: a VERY HAPPY CAMPER!

    Cheers!

That's fantastic to hear. The one fix I was interested in was:

    Reliability improvements for app notifications
    (Build 10.0.10586.164)

When does this actually hit redstone as I don't see this bugfix in there?

    Anyone have any ideas?

It wont. Well not directly anyway. On the surface it may seem logical that the higher number build was built on top of the lower number build but that's not exactly whats happening. The Threshold build is being tweaked and refined to be released to the masses including all the people who will get upgraded from 8.1. MS will keep tweaking this build and making it more and more stable until all the upgradable phones are upgraded (or have an upgrade path since the carriers may not allow the upgrade). Instead of waiting for this to be done, MS is also working on the next major update, redstone. So the new features of redstone are being developed at the same time Threshold is being refined. MS is only allowing Redstone previews on phones that came preloaded with Win 10. MS is adding a bunch of new features so Redstone builds could be buggy. But that's the nature of the beast in the fast ring. I would expect that if you opt to stay in the fast ring even once Win 10 is stable for everyone else, Fast ring insiders will still get new features first but the tradeoff is the potential of bugs being introduced. The only way to have the most stable build is to be in the pre production ring or to not be in the insider program at all.
