950 XL Dual Sim - er, 1 sim! Any ideas?

950 XL Dual Sim - er, 1 sim!

So, I bought my Lumia 950 XL unlocked in the UK in Nov 2015. The other reason why I bought the phone was because of the dual sim, since I travel internationally.

I just discovered (as I am on holiday) that my phone does NOT have dual sim! Only 1 sim card is possible. I don't understand, is this a UK limitation? When i try to find the 2nd sim card slot next to the camera, the entire area is blocked so you cannot remove or access that area.

any ideas? Did I misread something?

There are two different models of 950XL. The RM-1116 is dual sim, and the RM-1085 is single sim.

For reasons known only to Microsoft, it was decided to release only RM-1116 in certain regions and only RM-1085 in others.

Go to Settings | Extras | Advanced info to see what model you actually got. As PepperdotNet said, MS made some strange choices on where to release the different models of 950s. Here in the US they only sell the RM-1116 so when I wanted a single SIM phone I had to get an international one from an importer and thus have no warranty. Mine is an RM-1085_11302 where as my Wife's US purchased phone is an RM-1116_15357 and is dual SIM. Maybe you can find someone who wants a single SIM phone you could trade with.
