posted my IMEI to determine "Cricket worthiness", was found incompatible.
Since its already on AT&T towers with CC; must be it's North American pedigree.
    Just seems weird.

Weird.. thought the 950's were unlocked plus both use the same towers (mi thinks) so it shouldn't be a problem

When you place your IMEI on their website it shows incompatible but I have been using my 950 XL on Cricket since release (November) with no issues. I started a new SIM with them. You will need to add the APN for MMS to work correctly. I would post a known MMS issue link but I can't since I am at work. Search reddit and you will see the issue, you just need to point the MMS side to a specific IP address for it to work correctly.

NOTE: If I remember correctly, it must be provisioned for on the backend for APN to be recognized.

I assume these instructions from the web site don't work...

Enter the following info (don't worry about extra fields not listed below):
    APN: ndo
    Username: <leave empty>
    Password: <leave empty>
    Proxy: <leave empty>
    Port: <leave empty>

5.Confirm by tapping the disk icon to save.
6.Proceed to MMS APN section below.
1.Tap Add MMS APN, or Edit MMS APN.
2.Enter the following info (don't worry about extra fields not listed below):
    APN: ndo
    Username: <leave empty>
    Password: <leave empty>
    WAP Gateway: proxy.aiowireless.net
    WAP Gateway Port: 80
    MMSC (URL): http://mmsc.aiowireless.net
    MMSC Port: 80
    Maximum MMS Size: 10240

3.Confirm by tapping the check icon to save.

    4.Restart device.

That is an option. Cricket is cheaper by a few dollars...Same towers.

I've been using my 950XL on Cricket since it came out. No issues at all, I do swap my sim out from time to time and the 950XL automatically picks up the correct Cricket settings every time, no manual setups needed.

I been using cricket on my 950xl for 3 months without any issues. With the current fast ring build I get VVM working too! Works just like it did on AT&T but I save $150/month on my family plan. my IMEI worked on the website.

Cricket + 950XL is a great combo and I recommend to everyone!

Yes, VVM also works now on the current 586.218 production build.

Cricket is great for families. With the multi line discount (an additional $10 / line for every additional line so -10 then -10+-20, then -10+-20+-30 etc.) I have 5 lines, 2.5 gigs per line @ $100 flat.

    With 2 lines it's a wash with auto-pay.
Got two different accounts; might team up if we activate the third.

That's good to know. Historically, VVM has never worked on non-Cricket WP/WM phones.

Does mobile hotspot work with Cricket?
It does, if you are on a qualified plan.

No Straight Talk uses Sprint Nextel, Verizon or T-Mobile towers but not ATT, Cricket uses only ATT towers

    Project Fi had dropped calls.
Got the Sim for my wife's Nexus 6 and it pushed APN settings.
    Strong signal, mms working.
Works great from the little I tested it.
Now, if same is true for XL, that would be wonderful.

Around my area Verizon has the strongest signal.
    AT&T is pretty good also.
    Sprint, T-M not so much.

I bet there's a 50/50 you'll have to set up manual APN, at least for MMS, but those are easy to find on the provider's site.
My unlocked 950XL didn't provision with AT&T properly, I could connect, but in order to get LTE and MMS, I had to go tweak things.

However, I set up a 640 for my mom recently, on Cricket, and it provisioned the whole thing, no changes necessary. Hence my 50/50, good luck ;-]

    Thanks.
    It did exactly that.
Ordered that BOGO promotion got my XL the next day.
Placed two sims plus SD fired it up and Cricket did the rest.
Everything auto-configured. Lumia 950 XL is an impressive phone.
Running on Release Preview *.242, so far runs great.

If you run into issues with your MMS messages, search reddit for the proxy server fix. You might have to point it directly at an IP address. I had the problem and this is what I had to do.

    Currently mms is working
    Cellular connection profile = Cricket
APN is set and that is it.
All else blank with IPv4 default
If there are problems down the road....manual entry can be a pita.
    Thanks for the heads up.

I picked up the 950 Xl with free 950 deal. After installing the sims in each phone and the latest updates the 950 XL picked up VVM on cricket, but the 950 did not and still just wants to dial regular voicemail. Can anyone confirm they got VVM on their regular 950 working with Cricket? Thanks!!

I just got my 950XL on Monday and just swapped my sim card for Cricket into it from my BlackBerry PassPort (before that it was in my 1020, which is the phone I started my Cricket service on). No issues whatsoever. It picked up the necessary configuration right away, no manual changes. I have not been able to get VVM though, I will need to look into that.

    Think it's build dependent.
