You sure yours is on the latest firmware/build?

Even on redstone mine is getting way higher.

That benchmark must be sensitive to settings and other apps running.

Ran mine (not from a fresh boot) and got around 78k. Threshold release. Looking at yours, maybe Redstone is better optimized.

I think Soft Reset and straight to the test a minute or two after boot would give the optimal score. Purge that RAM.

The result for this benchmark app do happen to bounce all over the places, I never get consistent results with it. From the examples above, it looks as though the variance is about 10K and even the 950XL in the official results is on the lower end of the spectrum.

I had 89k yesterday, also most current Redstone.

I consistently get 93k+ no matter which apps I launch and run in the background. Last time I ran it on .214 build on threshold it was about 92k consistently. So redstone may have helped a bit with proper prioritization. It makes sense if you're running a game it should take priority over anything else without dropping speed.

I honestly think that not all hardware is created equally depending on which factory it shipped from etc.. Or even just installs aren't clean. I haven't done a factory reset since updating to redstone. I only updated on the last build. So builds before that could mess things up. And I never restore backup but start fresh. Since w10m still uses registry and we all know how if registry hierarchy or changes are made in a build, restoring could create new hierarchy structures which were replaced.

I get around 86k on my 950 XL (.218). There will always be some variability between phones, but every component in our phones is tested to ensure datasheet specs are met after assembly by the vendor. I would think most differences in benchmark scores has more to do with the software environment.

I'm on RS1 332, first time run on Antutu I received a score of 89k, second time I received 83k, noticed the phone was also warmer so I put my phone in the freezer for about 20 minutes and ran it again, score went up to 96k so it's highly likely that hot phones are getting throttled. My 1520 does getter hotter than the 950XL but the 950XL seems to warm up faster. My 1520 is on the same build and first scored 61k, then 60k then in the freezer for 20 minutes and then scored 62k. I bet the 950XL has a lot more throttling going on than the 1520, which is why it doesn't get hotter than my 1520, but still even when throttled, it performs the test better.

Well, that's exactly it. A lot of people complain about their units heating up while mine doesn't. So there has to be a reason for that. Manufacturing doesn't always produce the same results as there is room for error. And my guess is if units are overheating they should be replaced. I did have my unit heat up once on the previous build. It was in my pocket at the time and it was cold outside. But I took it out of my pocket it was turned off and it was really hot. But that was only once on the build itself. So software can definitely affect it. But I would at least try to narrow it down to a specific configuration. We know firmware is region specific and it may not all be created equally due to this fact.
