I dropped my phone today, and there's a crack across the upper left corner of the screen now....it is a very sad day for me indeed! I've never cracked a display on any phone I've ever owned before. Is there any info out there about parts, costs, etc? Is it something I could do myself?

    Cheers

In Australia it's AUD 399 to fix a cracked screen! That's half of what you can pay for a new 950xl at some places. You guys are lucky

I know! My phone just fell off a chair and the screen cracked. My Nokia 930 and 1020 have been through hell and back with minor scratches only.

If you take it to a repair shop, they mostly separate the digitizer/glass and the display and replace only the former (Is much cheaper).

Microsoft replaces the whole set, which is why it is more expensive, but yields better results (I got mine replaced in India recently for equivalent of 300USD, which is still cheaper than a new phone here).

Your best bet for a good repair is looking for MS support options in China
