    Hi All,
I have this long standing problem, which I think is well known. When entering, for example, my office in the morning, the phone won't pick up the office wifi. If I go into settings and try to connect, it says "no internet access". Of course, there is actually internet access and the only way to get the phone to connect is to reboot. Sometimes this doesn't happen, but it does happen frequently enough to be a major annoyance, e.g. maybe 3-5 times a week.

Is there any known work-around for this problem? I am not on any insider build - just running the standard version of the OS

Thought this was fixed with the firmware update? Which firmware do you have?

Since updating mine to the latest firmware this issue does not appear on my phone (although happened frequently prior to the update)

    Hi Summer_Moon,

    OS build: 10.0.14393.189
    Firmware revision: 01078.00053.16236.35006

That's the current firmware and the only difference is that I'm on Insider Fast.... hmmmm instead of rebooting have you tried toggling Airplane mode to see if WiFi comes back?

If that doesn't provide an "easier" workaround the only other thing I can think of is to do a hard reset (*shudder)

Hi Summer_Moon, I have tried turning the wifi off and back on - that doesn't work. I don't recall trying going into airplane mode. That's a good idea and I will try it the next time and see what happens. I've never done a hard reset and I'm kind of reluctant to try that.

I've done a hard reset and my phone still does this, so don't bother. A reboot is the only thing that fixes it, albeit only temporarily.

I can confirm that airplane mode does nothing useful. Also Android and WP8.1 phones don't have this issue with the same access points

I had similar troubles on Lumia 930 on Denim, and also on Lumia 920 on Amber

I would say give a report to Microsoft in the feedback. Hopefully they can release another firmware update. I wonder why it is happening to some phones but not others... out of curiosity is it a 2.4ghz or 5ghz wifi connection you are trying to connect to? I know the 5ghz give way more problems than 2.4ghz

This was a problem for me on my Icon since WP8.1 (8.0 never had the issue) and continues though to the latest firmware+insider build combo on my 950XL. I believe that the Cisco APs that my work uses is more the issue than the phone, as I know some Android users with similar issues - but that does not explain how the issue seems to get better and worse again like a crazy roller coaster ride after any given MS update. My home Apple Extreme Dual N Base Station has no such issues, although from time to time I have to force my 950XL off the 5ghz network to get decent speeds for no apparent reason...

One access point is 2.4 GHz only - Netgear. The other access point, Asus, is setup for both 2.4 and 5 GHz. I have never paid attention to see if there is any difference between 2.4 and 5 on the Asus router. I do know that once I get the "no Internet access" message under settings/wifi, that connecting to the other frequency does not work.

This does not happen while you are actively using the device correct? It's after the device has been locked and then you come back to it and find that it is "no internet access"?

Yes, Exactly. I would also say that it mostly happens when I leave the area of the wifi access point and then return.
For example, I leave the office for lunch. When I return, I have to reboot to reconnect to the office wifi because it's disconnected with "no internet access"

I got an phone update overnight to OS build: 10.0.14393.321. Maybe this will help.

The recent phone update did not solve the problem

    I have the same issue with 2 950XL and 1 950.
Before the last firmware update and RS1 update, after reboot, it works again 100%. After updates, sometimes it still does not work after reboot.
For me, the phone seems to keep the connection better with 2.4 than 5.
My phone works great and it does not have other major issues like others....just this wifi issue is my major issue. Luckily, LTE connection still works 100%.
Now, I start using tether a lot. Most the time when I turn on mobile hotspot it does not work b/c wifi does not work...had to reboot the phone and wait...this is very annoyance sometimes. Also, I want to be able to use wifi at home for streaming.

I did try to turn off wifi when it's not in use and turn it on when I want to use wifi. It does seem to work few times at first.

    Hi Cuong Ha2,

I agree: WiFi is my major issue. And 5 GHz is way more unreliable than 2.4 GHz for me as well. I have concluded that this is a Windows 10 problem, as I have a similar problem with the Wifi on my Windows 10 Kangaroo mini PC when I disconnect the Ethernet and use the WiFi for network connectivity.

Has anyone tried Interop Tools version 1.9 beta? It now has a tweak that keeps the wifi service running even under lock screen or standby. I turned it on and haven't noticed any issues.
