It's nothing like that. And yes, I can blame them for not being somewhat alike in terms of performance, especially when one out specs the other, and the company that released it chose the hardware and wrote the OS for it.
My point is that sacrificing default features to achieve acceptability is not an answer, and no matter how big of a ****** you are or aren't, you should never think that that's OK. What seems juvenile is to defend a company for clearly releasing a beta product as a finished one under the guise that it's "for fans of Windows Phone."
I have been a fan of Windows Phone since the very beginning and I probably have more experience using more devices on more platforms than most of the people here. When I spend my money on a product, I'm going to report my findings. I referenced my iPhone 6S because that's what I have been using as a daily driver. Is it perfect? No. Are there things I hate about it? Absolutely. Do I think I should expect the exact same thing from a Windows Phone? No, but I expect them to perform somewhat similarly as modern day flagships.
By the way, the culprit was "Windows Default Lock Screen" using 65.8% of the battery. Right behind that was "Messaging" using 18%. Unacceptable in my eyes. I didn't get to post this until now because I didn't have time to throw the phone on the charger. The phone died, alarm never went off and I had to swap SIM cards to my iPhone and run out the door. Doesn't matter how quickly it charges when it fails to perform.
I don't need the 640. I have a 640XL and an 830, and also still occasionally use my 1520 and 1020 depending on what I'm doing.
For those of you experiencing nothing but good things with yours, that's awesome. I'm hoping this one is a fluke and am still going to exchange it to see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't, then yes, it will have been the straw that broke the camel's back. I just hope Microsoft is able to stay on their chosen path and release quality devices, because as much as I like Windows Phone, people who aren't already fans will never make the switch.
