I used to have a 950 before I dropped it and smashed the screen which then subsequently blacked out completely.

Since then I've reverted back to an iPhone 5S whilst looking at other options.

I finally went into a local phone shop and looked at various handsets, iOS, Android etc, but it must have been the only shop with a 950 on demo. I looked at it and released I need to get a new Lumia 950 to use until my contract ends on Nov-17.

But I remember one issue I had with it that I want to ask other users advise.

When I took a video but set it to save direct to a micro SD card I found the start of the video froze. I would lose about 10 secs of the video before it kicked in. Saving to the phone was fine, no issues. Would this be a phone issue or could it be I had the wrong card in I.e need a fast SD card?

Also, I forgot to check in the shop. Is the 950's camera focal length the same for stills and video? I think it is could someone check their phone for me?

It really pisses me of with iOS and the Android handsets I liked that the still and video focal length would be different. The stills would have a nice wide angle but as soon as you changes it to video it would narrow in quite a bit.

    Cheers for your assistance.

I save all my training videos to SD card D:/ External, Never ever experienced this issue. Camera features were added in build .189 and now on .321 (non insider) Camera and video preform perfectly.

    Hiya,

Cheers. I think it could have been that I used a slow read SD card and I had an older build of W10M as it's been quite a bit of time since I broke it.

cheap and nasty MicroSD cards yes your right, the speeds Read/write will not be as good than say Samsung or Verbatim for example, when I first got my 950 and before I knew there was an update sitting waiting for it my camera was preforming really poorly and I was disgusted I spent all that money on the device, then the .189 really booted the phone into shape, no issue I can think of, some complained of overheating and battery drain but I never had those issues, build .321 is meant to be even better, Camera is super fast and very pleased with it.

I've just ordered a new 950 from the MS website, it should arrive next week some time.

Could I ask a favour. Could you open the camera app and see if the field of view changes when you switch from stills to video. It something that bugs me with iOS, the camera looses width when I go to video mode.

I'm going order a 128gb SD USH 3 class 10 to try and get the max card I can get. I want to get video on to my phone of my kids when we are out and I want to make sure that I have max storage and writing speed to get video before I get onto a wifi network to upload it to OneDrive or Dropbox etc.

My iPhone is awful, a few mins of video and it's full and I have to wait to upload it to until I get onto wifi network which then I lose lots of little video ops.

My new 950 arrived yesterday and I have been setting it up today. Wow how I missed it, I never realised how much I liked the 950 and W10M until now.

But, I have just tested the camera and OMG I love the fact Microsoft has made the still camera and video camera the same focal length. BIG No.1 in my book.
