Wow I was a year and and 7 months younger when this thread originated.
Lots of stuff can happen in 19 months.

Old age discussion has always been a sore subject.
I quit an RV travel forum last year because people my age complained way too much.
    They criticized everything and everybody!

If you gave advice you were wrong
If you took advice you were in danger of doing it wrong
Everybody was sure they were right
Everybody was sure you were wrong
(kind of like a few threads on here lately)

Drama at a RV Travel forum? I wouldn't of expected that.

I think your just to young to see that it getting worse rather than better. Microsoft software is getting more bugs and crashes more than ever. Maybe they should fix what they have instead of releasing a whole lot of new bugs with each version. As a developer it doesn't matter how precise i write a program it crashes and i have to provide the support for Microsofts buggy platform.

Us old people can see what was a great company going down the drain.
You resurrect a 21-month old thread for this???? To write out a not well thought out FUD post? Bro....

There were some great tips on the forum.
There were a lot of unbending opinions also.

Frankly I didn't learn tons because we have had RV's for about 20 years.
Made many mistakes over the years pulling large trailers.
A flat tire is the worst (well a flat on a 2 lane uphill, parked on an angled gravel shoulder, on 105 degree day, using a 12 ton bottle jack to raise 15000 pound fifth wheel)

My wife's folks have been full time 5th wheelers for about 12 years now, and snowbirded for about 5-6 years before selling their house and going full time.

i have unfortunately tried windows 8. because it came with my surface pro.
(if i could install 7 or better yet XP on it, i would, but its not possible)

it is terrible, and i never use any of the modern apps, except for one.
i even got modermix, which lets you window modern apps so i don't
have to ever go full screen.

i went to 8.1, but also have classic shell installed.

i only go to the desktop because my programs are all desktop based.

i could care less about the touch screen, or any of those apps. they just don't
do anything for me. useless charms bar, or anything else they added.

i might also add, windows 7 isn't that great either, i tried it on a few computers.

most of my computers run XP, and still work perfectly. i don't have a permanent internet connection
at home (just a pay as go account), so i'm not worried about any other issues.

XP works for me, is stable, and i don't have to mess around with the tons of upgrades and patches
for 7, 8 and 8.1. it just works for me.

i do use the stylus, on tablets, but have no use for anything touch based, it's too imprecise and
clunky for daily and work use, and for the desktop progams that i use (music, graphics, office, etc).

windows 10 might change that, but i doubt it.

Why on earth would you buy a Surface Pro if you knew in advance that it came with Windows 8 and a touch screen then? That makes literally zero sense.

wow. Windows 8 is just window 7 with more features and functions. Does Word and Excel confuse people who are overwhelmed by all the features and functions? No, people just use the subset of features that they typically use. That's what I do, with no problems. I don't get frustrated with the many many features I don't use. I don't write in forums and complain that the features exist. Complainers love to feed off of the medias "big story" band wagon and worry about nothing.

So YOU"RE one of those who come down here and clog up our roads from October-April and act as if driving in the rain is a foreign experience!! I'll be watching.
