Siri searches now powered by Bing, not Google, and now Office for iPhone but not Android. A one time "this for that" or is a greater strategy at play? I'm curious to hear others' thoughts.

I hope so, this making apps for one and not the other is getting out of control. Google is playing with fire. If the EU wouldn't f MS over, I'm sure MS would take Google completely off their software and services.

Google is a bit too dominant. They have a web browser, a search engine, two Operating systems (Chrome OS, Android), Google Docs, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, News, Maps and Translate.

Microsoft has on the other hand, A Web browser, search engine, multiple operating systems (Windows, Windows RT and Windows Phone) Outlook, Microsoft Office, Maps, Translate and news...

Correct me if i have anything left out. Wow, But i think an alliance against Google is forming.

Google is watched more closely in Europe now, see here: http://www.dailyfinance.com/2013/04/...ust-complaint/

No. Apple is just getting away from Google. That is all.

You would do the same if someone you worked with constantly pushed competing products.

I agree. If they get away from google search for siri, then what other alternative but Bing is there? Imagine, siri's search capabilities fueled by Yahoo! or Ask... :-P

While MS and Apple would never call it an "alliance", I think (and likely many of you) that's exactly what it is. Google is massive, and at the end of the day, they are the direct competition.
