Once upon a time, IOS was the undisputed king of Smart Phones. Google feared that Apple would become giant dictators if left unchecked. According to Google, the sole reason for Android's existence (purchase and continuous development) was/is to control Apple's dominance in the mobile space. Has the decision paid off?

To combat Microsoft Office, Google built it's own Google Docs. To control browser experience for it's own services, Google built Chrome. If you use Internet explorer to browse Google.com, you'll see one little button (soley) targetted at Internet explorer users.

To combat Facebook, they built and failed a couple of times until Google+ emerged.

Can you see the pattern here?

Now the shoe is Microsoft's leg right now.

    • The current "issue" with Youtube is natural an obvious inevitable.
    • Without Android, Google's IOS apps would have been kicked off IOS long ago.
    • instead of Whining, Microsoft could build, acquire or partner with another video sharing service.

    What do you guys think?

I've got some other thoughts about why Microsoft is being forced to play nice but maybe in another post.

The problem with partnering with another video service is that YouTube is so big and everything is available there. If they should partner with for example vimeo very few should want to use that because the content they want to watch is not available there.

I forgot to add. There was also an issue with Google maps before. It would have been worse if not for Bing Maps and Nokia Maps.
