Just got up and spent 20 minutes looking over the news from Nokia World. I was holding off on upgrading my iPhone 4S for the better part of a month now due to rumors of a new Verizon device, the 929. Unfortunately the area in which I live and work ties me to Verizon for coverage issues. So... I'm headed to verizon today to pick up my first WP8 device and get rid of this stupid, tiny, iPhone. Lol. I'm excited, don't get me wrong, but just was hoping for a little more Verizon love, instead of the nothing I got. Haha.

Anybody else in the same boat? Anything I should be careful of on the switch! Like I said, super excited for the new phone, and looking forward to getting away from iOS finally.

Looking forward to integrating into the WP community!

I hear ya, man. It's a real shame. Rubino tweeted that it'd be q1 of 2014. I really hope the staff at WPC releases some information on the status of the 929 soon...

Answering this question is difficult without knowing how you use your phone. What others may find of no consequence you may find as a deal breaker.

i have the 928 right now and i was looking for some 929 news as well if they can come out with a 5 inch screen with that same 3400 mah battery i will get that phone. dont get me wrong tho the 928 is a great phone id recommend if ur switching right now but id love the slightly bigger screen, 32 gb storage plus expandable memory and quad core processor.

if u can wait i know the 929 was rumored for a 3rd week of november release...im thinking its more of a thanksgiving release type thing we will see as time goes on

Definitely disappointed by the event. Well I guess I knew going in that it would be a phablet-centric event, but I still hoped a (global) 929 might somehow make an appearance.

And it's also disappointing that Nokia is making the same mistake with carrier exclusives. How Nokia can compete this holiday season with only a phablet and no flagship/hero device*, on only one carrier is beyond me. Hopefully they still have some hidden ace up their sleeve before the year ends.

*I'm not counting the 1020 as a true flagship device since it's a refresh of the 920 with a better camera (albeit a very good one)

Yea I saw that, my concern though is how reliable is that, ya know? Plus... not really wanting my 4s anymore. 928 it shall be. I'm having nightmare flashbacks though... old webOS user here. I always was a day late and a dollar short with that platform. HAHA

I've done some pretty extensive research, and the 928 will be perfect for me. Sure theres some small annoyances with no VPN, etc, however I can fix most of those problems with tethering and my android tablet/W8 PC.

Headed out shortly. I'm excited for the event, cause hey... anytime we see new dev's out of MS/Nokia, its a good thing. More devices mean more options, which in turn draws more people to the WP8 Community. I just wish that Nokia/MS would quit this exclusivity thing with AT&T. They only screw them over by releasing updates super late, etc, so you'd think that they would do something more about it. Especially when Verizon had the GDR2 update so long before AT&Tupid.

I'm pretty sick of ATT too....I want unlocked/unbranded devices in the US. It would cost them nothing extra to provide these, and the numbers of them they would sell in Microsoft Stores would pose no threat to ATT anyways, since I wouldn't be a potential customer of theirs.

It sucks that t-mobile doesn't have a flagship device while at&t has 3 now (1520, 1020, 920). Plus carries the 925 mid tier.

Since the 929 would be a Verizon only device like the 822 or 928, I wasn't expecting them to announce it today.

Right, I agree. But, what I wasn't expecting was for them now to be saying that we won't even see the 929 until Q1 of 2014. https://twitter.com/Daniel_Rubino/st...80022578638849

I am also disappointed. But I'm more disappointed that us folks on Verizon won't get a 6" device. The 929 looks a bit bland to me. If my area had an ounce of AT&T coverage I would consider switching
