Best way to back up messages after hard reset

So I have too phones, Lumia 920 and 521 I want to hard reset my Lumia 920 but I don't know if it'll back up the messages I want it to back up. It has backed up some of the messages from Lumia 521 which I use as my "main" phone. The 920 has now stopped backing up my messages and I want to know if hard reset would help. Also I don't know does it back up the messages from Lumia 920 or 521 so I really don't know what to do :-\ any ideas?

As long as your back up function is enabled on both phones you can reset it anytime (I'd wait couple of minutes).

Am I right, guys?
