How to disable facebook message so I can just use the app instead?

Hello everyone sorry if i posted this in the wrong place I'm new here.. Anyways i have both the Facebook app and the messenger and when i receive a message i don't like how i get notifications for both apps and i was wondering if theirs a way to turn it off on the Facebook app just so i can receive the notifications and messages on the messenger? Thank you xo

Launch facebook app

Go to the left pane and scroll down to settings, then notifications, uncheck messages
