With the Lumia Camera update, nothing will change in the Lumia 1020 ("it is very good as it is").

With Lumia Camera update, [1520/930/Icon] oversampling "is moved to background with the rest of the image processing. This way, the shot to shot improves to 2-3 fps".

Doing the same with the Lumia 1020 would be hard, Juha writes: "achieving smooth experience would be very difficult. The chipset is so different and there is 2x data to process".

You're wrong - Denim changes the processing times per image which is a pretty huge change considering how long it takes currently. Denim also adds Moment Capture as well (replacing Smart Sequence I assume) which will be burst photos in 1080p (2MP) instead of burst 4K (8MP). They said they rewrote the software for speed. Can't be hard to optimise given 8.1 added support for asynchronous encoding in the background. Of course though, it's a bit harsh to expect the 1020 to get 4K video recording or even the Rich Capture mode because the chipset is so old and it struggles to handle 38MP photos. Maybe they could use the 5MP oversampled option for HDR....

That info comes straight from one of Nokia's (or Microsoft now) imaging guys, Juha Alakarhu.

The same guy who WP Central has interviewed before.

It's still not clear if the previous generation of phones will get HD movie moments or Rich Capture. Maybe the new features need quad core chipsets?

Why can't Microsoft just release a detailed table that breaks down which phones get which features? Add some notations that explain differences?
