Which government? There's probably 600 TSA employees at Miami International alone. 600 devices? That's just a drop in the ocean as far as the Federal government.

TSA Officers do not get issued government cell phones. And they are actually moving to iOS at TSA not WP. FBI last I was told was moving to a custom build of Android. But yeah the Feds are slowly dropping the Blackberry. But I know some agencies have explored all their options to include WP.

On topic: I do not think the future of WP is bright. Personally I want to see what happens with Nokia under Microsoft's control and that will be a better sign as really that is the only really supporting OEM they have.

I just mentioned TSA as an example for numbers. I have no idea if they carry BB or WP or a beeper. I focus more on the Glock 22 and billy club than any phone.

I recall hearing awhile ago that the Department of Defense is moving to Samsung Android devices. I guess they figure that Samsung's Knox is secure, although I would think that at least some customization would be done.

I wish I could be optimistic, but I'm just not seeing WP gain any traction. I've had a WP for my daily driver for three years now. I'm writing this on my 6 month old Lumia Icon (a beautiful phone btw) which has his been axed by Verizon. No official 8.1 update and cyan is nowhere to be found. I'm seriously looking at going back to android and a Nexus device. I'm tired of the carriers and their reluctance to update phones.

Before Microsoft can set its sights on what's in the windshield, they better pay attention to the rearview mirror. BlackBerry remained stagnant in growth which is a real achievement. A large French company that sells frozen foods in Europe (Picard) has announced going with BB10 and BES. Although it was a limited amount by Android or Apple standards, the Passport sold out in 2 days and 10.3 has received positive feedback.

Unless Boo-Keun Yoon or Tim Cook get caught in a kiddie porn scandal or something similar, Microsoft won't be climbing the consumer charts anytime soon. But they better get their act together in the enterprise field quick. WP is the only real challenger to BB in this area because of security, or "perceived" security. BB still commands a 60% share in the enterprise world so it's safe - for now.

They sold out but, I believe, it was only 200,000 devices. Not exactly record breaking.
BB10 is a nice OS though. Their problem is no ecosystem.

Eh outlook is fine, The mail app or Windows live mail do the job for free though :p
Er, oh about Windows Phone? Cloudy with a chance of meatballs I'd say(could go either way but meatballs are delicious).

I had WP back in the day. Bought an iPhone4 three years ago, and just switched back to a Lumia 930 as a personal treat. After a decade of fumbling the mobile market, I feel very positive about the moves MS is making to leverage its Office and Business Enterprise dominance into the mobile/consumer area. The moves to get a shared experience across all devices will just make so much sense for the millions of Windows desktop and laptop users to also opt into WP.

A big edge - IMHO - is MS's ability to offer the level of security MS can offer for mobile connections into enterprise servers. They have a stranglehold on the business side, and if they can provide the right tools for IT managers to ease managing WP devices with assured security (as compared with Andriod and iOS for example) companies will supply WP devices to employees, and that will spread the good news to the poor benighted who have not yet discovered WP.

Well, right now I have a HTC one M8 android version. If I wanted to try out Windows phone, would the 635 be my best option probably? Do most apps run on its 512mbs of ram?
If you want to try out Windows Phone just go to the stores and play with one but I would not recommend anyone coming from a high end phone to jump into Windows Phone using a low end WP unless you don't care about the design(most low ends are plain and boring), having a nice camera(the ones you see on Instagram are taken by people that know how to take great pictures and know what to do in post processing--just hashtag search #nban #shotonmylumia), or care about playing the best games. That's just the way it is. I would recommend maybe an older flagship like the 920,928, or 925 that should be cheap on eBay these days if you want to try out WP without spending a ton of money.

I did mention that it was a limited amount. The interesting part was not the sellout, it was the short amount of time needed. I'd like to see what BB's virtual assistant looks like as well as the new runtime for Android.
