Well, partially. The green variant came with Cyan and 8.1 so...well...I guess yeah, I agree. 1520 is a 8.1 device

Agreed but how many flagship phones have you seen release in 2014 anyways? The 930 was an exception but the 830 does have it. Why the 73x was left out is still a mystery since the 720 had it. Either way, I am assuming that MS would be implementing this feature only on true flagship phones going forward. If they move away from this feature (which I don't see happening) as you are speculating then it might be a deal breaker for a lot of folks.

Only 63x, 73x and 93x miss glance. We haven't seen the 1330, 1530 or 1030 yet. And you list all the variants of each phone. WP8 phones with glance are just 62x, 720, 82x, 92x, 1020, 1520, 1320.

The 5xx never had glance. So? Only three series of phones are missing glance compared to the previous line-up. We've got three more series to see.

Glance is a "high end" feature, its similar to pureview, for making budget phones, excluding glance is a given, without it, they can use cheaper displays. why hasn't glance been on much lately? Because all these phones are budget phones that don't have the "high end" package.

As for the 930, that's a different story, While I don't know what happened for sure, I have a good guess. The 930 has a full HD AMOLED screen, from what I understand, OLED displays are about the most expensive type of display to produce, and the 930 was a NOKIA phone (you know.. the company that was going under fast.. IE not a lot of money to spare) what my theory is, is that having a full 1080p OLED display was more than Nokia could afford, so they opted to get the cheapest they could while keeping that 1080p AMOLED, resulting in a screen that has little to no memory on it for Glance to utilize.

and tell me, if glance were in fact dead, then why exactly did they just recently add support for apps to hook into it?

and btw, the 1520 is essentially a wp 8.1 device, it may not have come shipped with it originally, but it was clearly built and developed around 8.1, and my black 1520.3 came with 8.1 preinstalled on it as well

I have to agree. Even the inexpensive 620 had glance, why not more phones? I don't like so much this new branding for follow-ups, like 520 -> 630 and 920 -> 830, things got a little confusing imo.

Similar thing happening to camera button; only high ends are getting it

the incentive to get more expensive phones has to be there somewhere.. specs arent exactly a strong push for wp devices..

This post is silly. I'm running 8.1 on a 920, 925, 830, and 1520. They all have glance. Who cares what it shipped with. I'll say this, it's become one of my favorite features and it being there had a lot to do with me picking up the 830.

What's up with all the doom and gloom lately? Microsoft/Nokia is obviously under a massive transition. If anyone had been through a merger/acquisition they would understand the complexity, especially this massive. Budgets get frozen. Projects are put on hold. People leave. Hell, Microsoft lost an entire Nokia manufacturing facility in the transaction they have to replace. I'm sure they are having manufacturing capacity issues and short term hard choices are having to be made.

I as much as everyone else want to see new high end devices, but the minute that acquisition was announced I knew it was going to be a rough year.
